Heritage Golf Club (Le Château course): almost 20 years after designing Heritage's Chateau course, Peter Matkovich returned to the Bel Ombre estate to design the contrasting and also excellent Réserve Links. He was assisted in this endeavour by pro golfer and fellow South African Louis Oosthuizen.

Although sitting a little bit further inland than its stablemate, the Chateau course, the Réserve layout has been crafted in the style of a open seaside links course. The stunningly natural terrain has been laced with rolling fairways, revetted bunkers, and square-cut teeing grounds. Wonderful ocean views accompany your journey around this spectacular new addition to golf in Mauritus.

Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort is named after famous naturalist, Charles Telfair, who lived in the area in the 19th century. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, this elegant and refined resort nestles at the heart of the Domaine de Bel Ombre, a former sugar plantation on the island's south coast. The hotel is inspired by Mauritian colonial architecture and the elegant style of that time. Opening out onto a magnificent tropical setting, through which the Citronniers River flows, this 5-star resort offers spacious rooms, decorated with fine white woodwork. The resort facilities include a Six Senses Spa, varied local and international cuisine, the Cavendish piano bar, water sports and land-based activities ... not least the Heritage championship golf courses.

After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).

Who's Who

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.

Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
