Paraiso del Mar, Mex
Paraiso del Mar Golf Course (formerly called El Mogote Golf Club at Paraiso del Mar Resort) is home to a well-rated open links-style layout. The course sits at the end of the El Mogote peninsula just across the bay from the Malecon (waterfront boardwalk) in La Paz. Complementing the golf facilities on this relatively undeveloped peninsula is the Paraiso del Mar Resort, which comprises a range of vacation rental villas and condos.
The golf course combines two different golfing worlds. A predominantly dune-covered landscape, reminiscent of traditional British seaside courses, is complemented by occasional lush tropical scenery.
Exuding a distinctly links-style character, the course employs the use of deep pot bunkers as well as bunkering built into the native vegetation that border the fairways. As a tribute to the Old Course St Andrews, the fourth and seventh holes play to the same shared double green.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends. Closed Mondays.
Must book in advance.

Paraiso del Mar's golf course at the tip of the El Mogote peninsula facing La Paz, earned the title of being the first "links" golf course layout in Mexico. It is also the country's first Arthur Hills-designed golf course and first Audubon Signature Sanctuary course.

Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
