Himalayan Golf Course

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 1994

Himalayan Golf Course: If a round of golf, as five-time Open champion Peter Thomson once said, should carry with it an element of cross-country safari and a soupçon of adventure, then the "Himalayan" is surely the ultimate package. After two very ordinary holes, you'll play down from rim-to-river into an extraordinary canyon ... with the fast-running Bijaypur River to be crossed during your round.

The dark canyon walls rise several hundred feet from the valley floor, with the spectacular peaks of the Himalayan mountains beckoning in the distance. In view is the Annapurna Range, with three of the world's ten highest mountains adding to the dramatic scenery. Nowhere delivers that spirit of golfing adventure better than here. Be prepared ... this rugged but immensely scenic layout is not your average parkland golf course!

The nearby city of Pokhara, Nepal's second largest, is considered the country's tourism capital. It serves as a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit, the centrepiece of which is the mighty Annapurna Range and three of the world's ten highest mountains ... the beautifully pointed Dhaulagiri (26,795 ft), treacherous Annapurna I (26,545 ft) and the twin-peaked Manaslu (26,781 ft).
