Southland Golf Club

3-star: Good course – an enjoyable test for your game.
Southland Golf Club: GOLF COURSE WAS CLOSED IN APRIL 2018, due to declining membership and financial pressures. There is no clear plan to re-open the course ... and if that remains the case, a little piece of New Zealand's wonderful golfing heritage will have slipped away. Check current status before planning a visit.

[Original Where2Golf description]: Southland Golf Club at Oreti Sands might be a relatively basic layout, somewhat flat and rather bunkerless, but it thoroughly deserves its place in New Zealand golfing lore. It is after all reputedly the world's most southerly 18-hole golf course (the course at Stanley in the Falkland Islands is much further south, but only 12 holes!).

Latest Golf Course Reviews

Traigh Golf Course (pronounced "try", and meaning "beach" in Gaelic): You'll find this nine-hole seaside gem on the scenic coast road (as opposed to the more inland and quicker A830) between Arisaig and Morar. Although not on the well-beaten path of Scotland's "trophy" courses, if you are passing through this area, it's a must play.
