3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Waitikiri Golf Club: Although obviously open to debate, we would rate this as the most interesting of the parkland golf layouts in Christchurch - a golf course full of character, full of challenge and full of trees. Towering poplars, as well as mature birch, pine, eucalyptus and many other species line the fairways, sometimes tightly, other times less so. In some parts the terrain is gently undulating, with many fine dog-legging holes to be negotiated, as you make your way to the often small and excellent greens. Although the course may feel a tad compact at times, with a single row of trees separating some fairways, conversely it can also create the impression of a good sized area of parkland, in which you can easily lose yourself in this absorbing and testing layout. Pleasant rural countryside, the neighbouring Windsor Golf Club and more distant views of the hills south of Christchurch are in view from this very good course.
