Vale da Pinta
The Vale da Pinta course (a member of the Pestana Golf Resorts group) near Carvoeiro, is unlike any of the other courses on the Algarve. Set in gentle hills away from the coast, this is a course with a rustic quality, full of twists and turns, bumps and hollows.
Parts of this layout are open, others a little more tree-lined, with a mix of carob, fig, almond and olive trees. Water makes a couple of appearances (discounting, that is, the views you get of the Slide and Splash water park a few kilometres away).
Our 4-rating comes in part from the quality of upkeep, but more from the challenge and absorbing character of Fream's layout. The recent addition of real estate around the course is now becoming more evident, but still does not overly detract from the style and old world charm of the environment.
