Quinta do Lago Golf (South Course): This is one of the best courses on the Algarve - a course of big dimensions, encouraging big-hitters on the good sized fairways. Over a gently undulating terrain, perhaps a bit more than gentle on the back-nine, there are several elevated greens that will require a club or two more on approach shots. From the 14th to the 17th there is a picturesque loop of holes bringing you down to the water's edge of the Ria Formosa. The course is maintained in excellent condition from the opening downhill par-4 to an equally challenging par-4 finish. An Algarve "must play" course. Accurate tee shots are essential in order to reach many of the greens in regulation and the course is made more challenging by a good variety of doglegs and strategically located hazards. The front nine holes, which wind their way through parkland, favour a draw, while the back nine, which loop around the lake, favour a fade from the tee.
