Quinta do Lago Golf (South Course)

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 1974

Quinta do Lago Golf (South Course): This is one of the best courses on the Algarve - a course of big dimensions, encouraging big-hitters on the good sized fairways. Over a gently undulating terrain, perhaps a bit more than gentle on the back-nine, there are several elevated greens that will require a club or two more on approach shots. From the 14th to the 17th there is a picturesque loop of holes bringing you down to the water's edge of the Ria Formosa.

Accurate tee shots are essential in order to reach many of the greens in regulation and the course is made more challenging by a good variety of doglegs and strategically located hazards. The front-nine holes, which wind their way through parkland, favour a draw, while the back-nine, which loop around the lake, favour a fade from the tee.

The course is maintained in excellent condition from the opening downhill par-4 to an equally challenging par-4 finish. An Algarve "must play" course.
