Education City
Education City Golf Club: for many years golf in Qatar was limited to a couple of desert courses, where golfers putted out on "browns" rather than "greens". From 1997 the country was able to boast one of the Middle East's first grass championship courses, Doha Golf Club, host venue to the European Tour's Qatar Masters. Now, at last, Qatar is home to a second top-quality grass golf course, located in Education City to the west of central Doha.
Conceived by the Qatar Foundation the facilities at Education City include 18-hole and 6-hole Championship courses, a floodlit 9-hole Par-3 course, and excellent floodlit practice and coaching facilities.
The José Maria Olazábal-designed Championship course lays down an excellent test for your game, in a desert-style setting. Host venue for the Qatar Masters in 2020, this exciting new venue offers unique views of the Doha skyline, the Education City World Cup football stadium, and the older Rayyan Castle (although how much older is debatable).
Gently rolling terrain and a profusion of sharp-edged bunkering defines the course, along with several fairway hugging lakes. The first few holes lead you out to an ancient wadi wall, allowing its charm and beauty to set the tone for your round. On several occasions your mettle will be tested alongside water, not least at the par-5 18th, which brings you back to the golf clubhouse from the Education City Stadium, the "Diamond in the Desert".
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
The Education City's 9-hole Par 3 course is floodlit for night golf.
Excellent, with floodlighting and a double-ended driving range.
Qatar's Education City, a flagship initiative of the Qatar Foundation, is a 12 square kilometre campus that hosts branch campuses of some of the world’s leading educational institutes, a homegrown university, and other research, scholastic and community centres. Also in the area around the golf course are the Rayyan Castle, 2022 World Cup Stadium, and Arab Museum of Modern Art.
The golf course and facilities at Education City are managed and operated by Troon Golf, a world leader in upscale golf course management.
Middle East & North Africa's 16th best course (Golf World, 2025).

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
