Plans were drawn-up many years ago for a Jack Nicklaus designed course to be built on the Loch Lomond estate, although construction work on this project was never started.

From Glasgow take the M8 (heading west) and then M898 and cross over the River Clyde at the Erskine Bridge. After approx 10 mi at the A82/A811 intersection (and Stirling turn-off) continue on the A82. After 6.2 mi turn right direction Luss, then immediately right direction Loch Lomond Golf Club. Gatehouse is 300 yards straight ahead.
Loch Lomond Golf Club: On the "bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomon'" lies one of the world's best known private golf clubs. Here you'll find an immensely scenic and handsomely crafted layout, designed by major championship winner Tom Weiskopf. The club's top-quality golf, accommodation and culinary facilities are there to be enjoyed by its international cadre of deep-pocketed members, and their invited guests. Loch Lomond is not open to outside visitors or casual green fee payers.
The parkland golf course is out of the top-drawer, and frequently referred to as Tom Weiskopf's masterpiece. The layout fits perfectly with the gently wooded terrain, sweeping alongside spectacular Loch Lomond for no less than seven sumptuous holes. Complementing the lakeside environment, much of the back-nine takes you into an enchanting and more undulating area of woodland.
The closing stretch, rather than returning to the loch, gives you two exquisite lakeside holes. First up is the testingly long par-3 17th, then comes the also good-length par-4 18th, where you bite-off as much of the lake as you dare with your drive.
Many of the trees that line the course (Scots pine, Douglas firs and ancient oaks among them) have been here for centuries, but not as long as the ruin of Rossdhu Castle, which stands behind the 18th green. The castle dates back over 700 years.
Distant mountain views, the tranquil splendour of the lochside setting and an abundance of pheasant and other wildlife, all add to the undoubted pleasures of this sublime environment. With initial drainage problems now a thing of the distant past, the fairways, bunkers, greens and tee boxes are typically presented in immaculate condition.

Loch Lomond's Rossdhu House, a beautifully proportioned 18th century Georgian mansion, was once home to the Clan Colquhoun. It now serves as the members' clubhouse. With views across the short par-3 8th hole towards the loch and Ben Lomond, the house enjoys one of the most enviable locations in the golfing world.
Loch Lomond was the first golf course in Britain to become certified as an Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary. The course has hosted many prestigious events including the Solheim Cup and several Scottish Open Championships (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Loch Lomond).

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
