Powfoot Golf Club

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 1903

Powfoot Golf Club: Glorious views across the Solway Firth from most parts of the course and a very respectable links layout, draws many visiting golfers to sample the undoubted pleasures of golfing at Powfoot.

Here at Powfoot, just west of the historic town of Annan, you'll not see the towering sand dunes associated with many of Scotland's better known links courses. But there is gorse in abundance to underline the layout's seaside links credentials, and to keep you on the straight and narrow on several tee shots. The James Braid-designed course is not however overly penal, unless your shots are really wayward.

The usually excellent greens will thoroughly test your putting skills, with their many slopes and borrows. One of Scotland's lesser known seaside delights.
