How to get there:

10 km SW of Sandton Centre (in northern Johannesburg).

From Johannesburg's Western Bypass (N1) take the Beyers Naude (M5) exit, and follow Beyers Naude Drive (M5S) south. After 2.2 km turn left into Pendoring Rd (M8) direction Randburg, next to the Cresta Shopping Center. After o.6 km turn left into Republic Rd (M20W). After o.9 km take second left into Vosloo Rd (by Windsor Glen Shopping Center). Take first right into Burgers Rd, then second left into Klub Rd. At end of Klub Rd turn right into Fairway Drive, then first left into Setperk St. Follow road into golf.

Randpark Golf Club (Firethorn course)

Randpark Golf Club (Firethorn course): Since 1971, Randpark Golf Club has been home to two championship golf courses, the longer and tougher Firethorn (formerly the Randpark course), and some would say the more elegant and charming Bushwillow (formerly known as the Windsor Park course).

The Firethorn, which is played on the north side of the clubhouse (the Bushwillow heads south), has a more open feel than its sibling. However, extra length, prodigious bunkering and a plentiful array of dangerous water hazards, gives the Firethorn a distinct edge in terms of overall golfing challenge. The tough closing stretch brings two good-sized ponds into play, which threaten at the dog-legging par-4 16th and par-3 17th. The par-5 18th requires one last carry over the Klein Jukskei river, before the relative safety of the heavily-bunkered final green is reached.

The more upfront challenges and bigger "muscles" of the Firethorn course, perfectly complement the older world charms of its Bushwillow companion, making for 36 excellent holes of golf here at the Randpark Golf Club.

Did you know?

Windsor Park Golf Club opened here in 1941, and boasted the 12-hole "Windsor" course, which was later extended to 18-holes and became known as the Windsor Park course. In 2012 the course enjoyed a facelift, and a name change to become the Bushwillow course. The club's Randpark (now Firethorn) course, and a new clubhouse, arrived in 1971, 30 years after the original opening.

Randpark's 18-hole courses have hosted many top-level tournaments, including the South African Open - the world's third oldest open national championship. For the 2018 playing of the SA Open, the shorter Bushwillow hosted one round of the championship, while the other three rounds, including the final round, were played on the longer Firethorn course (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Randpark).

Ryder Cup: Rome plays host to the first ever Ryder Cup to be staged in Italy, with the USA defending golf’s greatest team trophy at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (Sept 29-Oct 1).

Solheim Cup: also in September, also in southern Europe, the 18th Solheim Cup will be contested at Finca Cortesin on the Costa del Sol, with Europe defending after their surprise win in Toledo, Inverness Club (Ohio) in 2021 (Sept 22-24).
