Zwartkop Country Club: Not yet visited by Where2Golf, we are indebted to Zwartkop Golf Estate for the following description : The Zwartkop Golf Estate is situated on what was originally the farm Zwartkop named after the bird found nesting on the farm. The golf course is built around the Hennops River which is crossed 12 times in a round, and which comes into play on most holes. A variety of trees and shrubs abound and much of the natural foliage is integral to the course design. The layout is not overly long, but the greens are small and allow for tight and demanding pin placements. These factors combine to add a good deal of challenge to a pleasantly wooded course. The 495-metre 4th is one of many good holes; although relatively short for a par-5, the ambitious second shot has to carry the river while a huge tree guards the right of the green. On the back nine, the par-3 15th, par-4 16th and par-3 17th constitute Zwartkop's Amen Corner - all are relatively short, but each putting surface is hard alongside the river. Only bold, accurate shots will yield pars or birdies, with double bogeys potentially in store for the faint-hearted. The gentle humps, swales and subtle bunker positions which have become the trademark of course architect Peter Matkovich, are now much in evidence following his recent improvements to the course design.
