Where2Golf says:
Harbour Town Golf Links: Without doubt the jewel in the Hilton Head crown. On this excellent Pete Dye design, 18 excellently crafted holes will thoroughly test your game. With towering oaks and fir trees lining the tightish fairways, the course builds to a fabulous climax alongside the wonderfully scenic Calibogue Sound.
On this relatively flat tree-lined parkland layout it is essential to get into good positions from the tee. That accomplished, your next task is to fly your way over an impressive array of bunkering that expansively protects the relatively small greens. The superb short par-4 9th is one of several potential card wreckers you'll meet along the way. After a good drive from the tee, another high-flighted pin-point approach will be needed to land your ball safely on the dance floor.
With the first 16 excellent and testing holes played through a predominantly tree-lined setting, the fabulous closing duo open out onto the impressive Calibogue Sound. Here, on the shoreline of the wide Harbor River estuary, the terrific par-3 17th is dangerously flanked by the water margin. The superb par-4 18th, one of the scariest and most scenic closing holes you'll play on America's eastern seaboard, is flanked from tee-to-green by the estuary. From the tee and on your approach, Calibogue Sound awaits anything hit too far left. With Harbour Town's iconic red-and-white striped lighthouse providing the final backdrop, this stunning hole signs-off a very enjoyable, testing and ultimately scenic layout.
Stay & Play: luxury onsite accommodation is available in the Inn at Harbour Town (see Where2Stay section below).

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted. Perhaps the inspiration for Koksijde's new course came from a renowned Harry Colt layout that existed in the 1920s just a couple of kilometres to the west. Read more... |
The Duke Golf Club: represents the latest in a trio of private courses to arrive on the Dutch golfing scene. All prefixed by the definite article, The Dutch (2010, designer Colin Montgomerie) and The International (2012, Ian Woosnam) have now been joined by The Duke, which firmly targets a business clientele and the corporate golf market. Drentse Golfclub De Gelpenberg: as the oldest golf course in the Dutch province of Drenthe, De Gelpenberg offers a partly-wooded and partly-open heathland layout, guaranteed to test all facets of your game.
