Where2Golf says:

Old South Golf Links: Not yet played by the Where2Golf team, we hear Old South commands a solid reputation with both local and visiting golfers alike. Live oak forests, small lakes and marshlands frequently line the not overly wide fairways. Originally a natural landscape though the addition of some real estate has had an impact. The Club's own literature says : Old South has truly become a favorite of golfers visiting the Hilton Head area and features towering live oaks, rolling terrain and magnificent views from island greens. Not only did Johnston preserve the natural beauty of the land, his design allows golfers to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, it’s natural amenities and spectacular views. As Johnston himself so aptly put it, “the variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.”

Did you know?

The modern-day town of Bluffton, which was originally part of a royal parcel of land awarded to Lord Colleton, has a rich, fascinating history. Located on a high bluff overlooking the May River, Bluffton was a pastoral country retreat for wealthy plantation owners in Savannah and Beaufort in the 19th century. Over the years, the area became popular with hunters, who enjoyed the rustic splendour of the Lowcountry woods. Today, Bluffton has become an increasingly popular area to call home, extending the appeal of Hilton Head Island to the mainland, and extending the range of golf courses on offer.
