Arabella Golf Mallorca is home to three championship golf courses - Son Vida (the oldest), Son Muntaner (the highest rated) and Son Quint (the newest and most forgiving). The separate clubhouses of each course are situated about a kilometre apart from each other, with the Son Vida course closest to the Sheraton Arabella hotel.
Generally regarded as the most prestigious of the Arabella Golf trio, Son Muntaner nestles between the rolling green hills of Son Vida and the outskirts of the island capital, Palma. With its 70 bunkers and mix of open spaces and occasional tree-lined holes, the layout exudes a wonderfully natural look and feel. The undulating terrain is home to many well-crafted holes with plenty of rolling slopes and gentle elevation changes.
Arguably the toughest stretch on this layout comes right up front. Five of the opening six holes all have water dangerously in play. At the left-to-right doglegging par-4 1st there's water beside the green, as there is at the par-4 6th. The par-5 2nd and par-4 3rd run in opposite directions alongside a slithering lake that constantly threatens. At the par-4 4th there's a ditch to cross 50 yards out from the green. After all that water on the first six, things become much "drier" thereafter.
Surrounded by attractive hillsides of pine, almond, carob and olive trees, the relatively open course is itself home to a pleasant scattering of trees. Alongside the par-5 15th tee is a thousand-year-old tree known as “Sa Capitana”, the oldest known olive tree on the island.
