Finca Cortesin is located between Sotogrande and Estepona in the heart of the Costa del Sol. From Marbella follow highway AP7, direction Algeciras. Take exit 153 (just after Estepona), and at roundabout follow the A7 direction Algeciras-Cadiz. At the fourth roundabout turn right and follow direction Casares. After 2 km Finca Cortesin is on your right.
Finca Cortesin
Club de Golf Finca Cortesin: The rolling landscape of Finca El Cortesin ("the farm estate of Cortesin") now boasts one of the Costa del Sol's best recent courses. This excellent Cabell Robinson design fits well with its natural surroundings and has established an excellent reputation for itself.
The layout, which stretches to 7500 yards from the back tees, enjoys a wonderful location with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, the African coastline and the local Estepona mountains. The undulations of the surrounding rugged hills are reflected in many slopes and contours found on Finca Cortesin's fairways and expansive greens.
On this testing and open layout, which is free of housing development (unlike many other Costa del Sol courses), you'll find a variety of natural vegetation lining the generously wide and well-bunkered holes. When the wind gets up you'll be glad of the good-width fairways and relative openess from the tee.
Two ponds and several fairway-crossing water ditches need to be factored into your game plan on a course that includes five par 3s and five par 5s. Often fiercely protected by an array of stylish, white-sand bunkering, the expansive putting surfaces contain many subtle slopes and borrows, complemented by more obvious and equally testing undulations.
Pick of the holes: the signature par-4 13th is rated one of the best holes on the Costa del Sol. Players drive to a wide fairway, avoiding a water hazard that runs left of the fairway and across the front of the green. Bunkers left and right, and traditional old Acebuches trees, complete one of Spain’s most beautiful approach shots.
Also noteworthy is the short par-4 4th, a great risk-and-reward hole for long hitters. Either take on the challenge of a tilt at the green, knowing a large lake awaits anything not perfectly struck, or lay-up with a long iron or fairway wood, but watch out for the severely-sloping green.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
Join us at The Dutch from August 21–24 for the Festival of Golf, featuring the HotelPlanner Tour. Experience four days of top-tier sport, live music, incredible food, and unexpected surprises.
