At bottom of exit ramp turn right, then immediately right again at T-juntion, direction La Hacienda/Alcaidesa Golf. After o.4 km turn right direction La Hacienda/Alcaidesa (go over motorway). La Hacienda Links Golf Resort (Heathland course) (formerly known as Alcaidesa Golf Resort): this open "heathland" style course is the more recently opened of the two courses at Alcaidesa. It provides a good companion to the original layout, the much admired Links course, which enjoys spectacular views onto the Mediterranean and Rock of Gibraltar.
The par-73 layout offers an array of natural landscapes as it winds its way through undulating terrain. Tucked-in behind small bush-covered hills for much of the time, the Heathland course doesn't offer as many of the panoramic sea views as its sibling, but there are occasional vistas of Gibraltar and the Med.
There's not too much water to worry about as you journey round, although the long par-5 6th and par-4 15th both play alongside the same bush-lined arroyo (water channel), while the intimidating par-3 14th demands a tee-to-green carry over a small lake.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Maximum handicap: men 28; women 36.
Contact club for full details, discounts, Stay&Play packages, etc. [Last updated: 2023].
Soft spikes only. Players generally walk this course. Golf carts (fitted with GPS) available for hire.
With the opening in 2007 of a second 18-hole championship layout (the Heathland course), La Hacienda (at the time called Alcaidesa) grew from a lesser known golfing gem into one of the most popular golfing attractions at the western end of the Costa del Sol.
