Rya Golfklubb

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 1934

Rya Golfklubb: A real mix of seaside and parkland golf lies in wait here at Rya on the shores of the Oresund. The first four holes are next to the sea and catch the worst of the wind - get round these in par and your luck's really in.

A short (stiff) climb takes you up to the main part of the course where a classic parkland landscape is interspersed with spectacular views across the Oresund to Denmark and the island of Ven. The par-5 8th and par-4 10th both require good drives in a seaward direction from significantly elevated tees.

The golf course is well presented and the terrain rolls up and down before the par-3 16th drops you back down to clubhouse level for the closing two holes.

Did you know?

Rya was originally established in 1934 as Helsingkrona Golfklubb and changed to Rya two years later in 1936. Looking north from Rya golf course you clearly see the top part of the Oresund, where the sea between Sweden and Denmark narrows to just 4 kilometres - the closest these countries come distance-wise.

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.

Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
