Vasatorps Golfklubb (Tournament course): Following a considerable revamp of its facilities in the late 2000s, Vasatorp Golf Club now offers 54-holes of golf, with two 18-hole championship courses and two nine-hole layouts. Pride of place is now most definitely taken by the Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest designed Tournament Course (TC), although the original Gamla (Old) course still puts up an excellent and enjoyable golfing challenge.
The newer Tournament Course is ostensibly a "links-style" layout, but a "links" with more than its fair share of threatening water hazards to negotiate. This you'll discover as early as the par-3 2nd, and again at the dog-legging par-4 5th and 8th holes on the front-nine loop. Water returns at the straight par-5 10th, and again in the middle of the back-nine, with the very testing par-4 13th and par-3 14th wrapped around the same small lake. When water is not present, you'll find the fairways flanked by rippling mounds or "rivers of sand" flowing through large waste areas.
Considerably more open and spacious in character than its 18-hole sibling, the Gamla (Old) course, the newer kid on the block is now the club's premier tournament course ... and one of the top 10 layouts in Sweden.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance (visitors can book 14 days ahead of day of play). Maximum handicap: 36.
