Blue Sapphire
Blue Sapphire Golf & Resort: The open-cast mining of sapphires and other gemstones in this area leaves holes in the ground the size of football stadiums. What better for golf course developers than to fill these disused quarries with water and create a series of beautiful lakes. Their next step is to supplement the quickly growing natural vegetation (mainly rushes and grasses) with hundreds of additional palm trees. Then allow a wonderfully natural and undulating 36-hole golf course to roam its way alongside all that water.
Blue Sapphire's two 18-hole courses (Canyon and Ocean) are well laid out between the lakes. Not unsurprisingly on the Canyon course, which comprises the A (Blue Sapphire) and B (Yellow Sapphire) nines, water is frequently in play. All the par-3 holes are downhill and require water to be crossed.
The C-course (Pink Sapphire) combines with the newest nine (D-course) to form the Ocean Course. Although the C-course offers the shortest nine, it includes some of Blue Sapphire's most testing water holes. With their well-crafted layouts, excellent quality fairways leading you to often elevated greens and natural lakeside scenery, the courses provide an enjoyable golfing environment.
Beyond the courses lie picturesque jungle-clad hills. With boat-style accommodation arranged around one of the lakes, Blue Sapphire is by name and nature, one of the Stay&Play gems in the River Kwai area.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
