River Kwai Golf & Country Club

3-star: Good course – an enjoyable test for your game.

Est. 1993

River Kwai Golf & Country Club: Many golfers are keen to play the course which bears the name of this famous region. The course is located alongside the banks of River Kwai Noi. With water in play on most holes, and several long tee shots to make this is both a very natural and challenging course.

There may be better designed and presented courses in the River Kwai region, but the jungle-lined fairways of this sometimes hilly course, will certainly provide your game with a challenging and exciting workout.

Did you know?

The River Kwai region and railway bridge over the River Kwai Noi in Kanchanaburi have become major tourist attractions in Thailand, much helped by the 1957 feature film, "Bridge on the River Kwai". The film is actually based on a fictional novel, which uses the construction of the Burma Railway as its historical context.

The building of the Burma Railway (1940-43), connecting Bangkok with Rangoon, involved laying 250-miles of track. Numerous bridges were required and dense jungle had to be cut through. The appalling treatment of the enforced labour (mainly enslaved Malay civilians and military prisoners of war) and the resulting tragic cost in human lives, earning the railway the title, the "death railway".
