Vistoso
[COURSE PERMANENTLY CLOSED in 2018]. [Original Where2Golf description]: The Golf Club at Vistoso: Bounded by the nearby Santa Catalina Mtns on one side and the Tortolita Mtns on the other, Vistoso is a great golf outing in a very natural and scenic setting. Inevitably real estate around the course is growing, but at the moment not too much to the detriment of the spectacular mountain views and the quality of desert flora and fauna.
The flattish fairways are broken up by significant areas of "wash" that will require good course management (greatly assisted by the GPS system on the carts). What the GPS won't prepare you for is the speed of the greens - some of the fastest in the south-west. This Tom Weiskopf design offers a great desert golf experience, provided the housing stays in check.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
Walking permitted at certain times, but most players take a buggy.
Good
The Golf Club at Vistoso nestles between the Tortolita and Santa Catalina Mountains. The environment is one of pristine Sonoran desert, where statuesque saguaros, beautiful desert flora and spectacular mountain views abound.
