Aviara
Aviara Golf Club: Reflecting the quality of its Park Hyatt Resort parent and the luxury of the neighbouring real estate, Aviara Golf Club (previously Four Seasons Aviara) is home to an immaculately presented and wonderfully laid out golf course.
In a garden-like environment, a dazzling profusion of shrubs and flowers, as well as cascading water features, decorative ponds and tall eucalyptus trees adorn the holes. The large and expensive villas around the course are never intrusive, only adding to a general ambience of refinement and colourful elegance. But the golf course is not there just to enthral your visual and botanical senses.
This wonderfully crafted Arnold Palmer design is home to many terrific golf holes that will thoroughly test your game. Good-width, rolling fairways and light rough are often flanked by dense (and colourful) foliage, while around the large, fast and sloping greens, plenty of testing bunkering lies in wait for any wayward approach shots.
Roaming through an expansive area in two nine-hole loops, there are plenty of elevation changes, allowing views onto surrounding tree-clad hills, and, at the 1st and 18th holes, over the impressive Batiquitos lagoon. The par-3s are generally a sumptuous blend of ponds, tumbling waterfalls and riotously colourful arrays of wild flowers. The 14th perhaps takes top honours as the most joyful hole on the course.
