Legacy, The (Las Vegas)
The Legacy Golf Club: Designed by acclaimed golf course architect Arthur Hills, The Legacy is an 18-hole desert-style course, characterised by multi-tiered fairways and large undulating greens. Stretching 7,233 yards from the back tees, this memorable layout is a strong challenge for the scratch player, yet also accommodates higher handicappers, with well-spaced tee boxes and generous fairway landing areas.
Most of the holes are accompanied by residential housing on either side; a band of desert rough usually skirting the good-width fairways and keeping the properties out of harm's way. The anti-clockwise front-nine loop is played to the east of the clubhouse, the signature par-3 10th starts the clockwise back-nine loop, which is played on the other side of Green Valley Parkway.
The Legacy is perhaps unique in having a signature hole defined by its tee-boxes, each one the shape of a playing card suit. The ladies tee is a Heart; farthest back is the Spade; a Club of course for the men's club tee and, for those wanting the best chance to ace the hole, the men's front tee is a Diamond.
Also renowned on this layout is a devilishly difficult trio of consecutive par-4's. Known as the "Devil's Triangle", it comprises the good-length 11th; the sharply dog-legging 12th, and the "unlucky for some" short 13th, dangerously flanked by a rock-filled desert wash area on its left side.
