In the south-east of Las Vegas leave I-515 at exit 61 and head east on Lake Mead Parkway (Rte 564), direction Lake Las Vegas. After 4 miles turn left into West Mohawk Drive. After o.6 miles go through gate house and follow directions to Tuscany Golf Club.
Chimera
Chimera Golf Club (formerly known as Tuscany Golf Club): From the clocktower behind the 5th green, through to the claret coloured golf carts and wine barrel tee-box markers, plenty of Tuscan influences adorn this enjoyable and always busy golf course.
Tuscan-styled housing lines some of the course perimeter, although never too closely to obscure the fabulous views you'll enjoy. Downtown Las Vegas and The Strip lie away to the west, while several mountain ranges provide a wonderful backdrop to vistas over expansive desert plains. The holes are often laid out in pairs, one out and one back, as they journey through several elevation changes and onto the flatter sections of the course.
Palms and small fir trees are liberally dotted around the course; in combination with the generous rolling fairways and good-width of easy-going grassy rough, the effect is to smooth away many of the rougher aspects of what was originally rugged desert terrain. Water hazards, desert wash and sandy waste areas all play their occasional parts in adding to the variety of this good-looking layout, with the par-4 9th and 18th holes most menacingly guarded by water.
At times easy-going, at others more testing, Chimera is an enjoyable blend of desert and resort style golf, with fabulous views that are unmistakably Nevada desert, rather than the green hills of Toscana.
