Streamsong (Bone Valley)
Streamsong Resort (Bone Valley course): for many years in the early-2000s, new high-end golf course developments were something of a rarity. Streamsong bucked that trend in 2012. Two fabulous "sandbelt" courses (the Red and Blue) were laid out on a former phosphate strip mine. The resort has continued to command front-page headlines, with the addition of the Black course in 2017, and now, 10 years later, the Bone Valley course designed by David McLay-Kidd.
Like its stablemates, Bone Valley's "sandbelt" design combines largely treeless landforms, rolling terrain and stretches of open savannah. Routed across terrain shaped by ancient water flows, shifting sands and fossil beds, and careful reclamation, the layout follows natural ridgelines and hollows. Around the large and undulating greens, run-off areas will carry your ball into testing chip and run territory.
In this less travelled part of the Sunshine state, a golf resort has emerged to rank with other "modern greats" such as Bandon Dunes, Whistling Straits, Canada's Cabot Cape Breton and Australia's Barnbougle Dunes. Streamsong may not be oceanside or lakeside, as are the others. But the entire resort is surrounded by quiet ancient landforms, without any intrusion from busy roads or real estate

Excellent
The Bone Valley logo, the silhouette of an alligator skeleton, makes reference to the fossil-rich foundations of this region of Florida. Once a shallow prehistoric sea, the Bone Valley region remains one of the richest fossil beds in North America.
The Streamsong Resort was developed by the long-time owners of the land, The Mosaic Company, the largest U.S. producer of potash and phosphate fertiliser. The golf courses are built on the site of a former Mosaic phosphate strip mine.

Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
