Purgatory Golf Club

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 2000

Purgatory Golf Club is home to a championship golf course that ranks with some of the best in Indiana. True to its name, the layout conjures up images of overcoming its many "obstacles" to reach "eternal happiness". (See Did You Know section below).

The game of golf at Purgatory is a game of strategy to overcome its many bunkers and fairway-lining tall grasses. Staying on the fairway (so the Club says) brings you the happiness of a lower score. This open parkland layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. A must play if you are in the area.

Did you know?

According to medieval Christian and Roman Catholic belief, purgatory was a condition, process or place of temporary punishment and purification. Here, the souls of those who die in a state of grace were made ready for heaven. People who led an exceptionally good and holy life believed they would bypass purgatory and go straight to heaven.
