Black Butte (Glaze Meadow)
The Glaze Meadow course at Black Butte Ranch is a well-rated and always popular layout. This tree-lined parkland course should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. Plenty of golfing challenge, a well-crafted design and usually good upkeep all contribute to the appeal of this course. One to include on your play list if you are in the area.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends during Black Butte's golf season (April thru early-Nov).

Located northwest of the historic town of Sisters, Black Butte is a cinder cone butte (or small mountain) situated in the Deschutes National Forest. The Butte is an extinct volcano, which rises above the surrounding plateau to 3,076 feet (938 m) above sea level, forming an impressive geographical feature just north of US Highway 20. Black Butte is a nearly symmetrical cone, with no marks of glaciation.

In addition you can enjoy 36-holes of championship golf, 18 miles of bike paths, 5 swimming pools, spa, fitness centre and other recreational and seasonal outdoor activities. The Lodge building includes an excellent restaurant that provides wonderful views over Big Meadow, while in the other direction stands Black Butte itself.

Presidents Cup: Geoff Ogilvy’s International Team take on Brandt Snedeker’s USA Team at the revered Medinah Country Club, near Chicago. The Internationals are trying to halt a run of 11 consecutive American wins. (Sept 24-27).
French Open: Continental Europe’s oldest national championship, dating from 1906, is once again staged on the Albatros Course at Le Golf National, near Paris. Defending champion is America’s Michael Kim. (Sept 24-27).
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
