How to get there:

In Ingleside, 30 km N of Sydney Harbour Bridge.

From Sydney Harbour Bridge travel north on Hwy 2 direction Manly. After 2 km take Hwy 10 (Military Rd) direction Mosman & Manly. After 3 km, where Military Rd and Hwy 10 split, continue on Hwy 10 (Spit Rd) direction Manly. After 24 km turn left onto Hwy 3 (Mona Vale Rd) direction Terrey Hills. After 4 km turn left into Powder Works Rd direction Elanora Heights & Narrabeen. After 250m golf entrance is on your right.

Monash Country Club

The wonderfully natural and tranquil Monash Country Club is located on the edge of the expansive Garigal National Park (the name Garigal is taken from the Ku-ring-gai aboriginal tribe that once inhabited this area). From the large and lofty clubhouse, perched above the course, you can catch sight of the Pacific Ocean, before gently descending down into this scenic, very natural and challenging golf course.

There are quite a few elevation changes on this layout, although members have no hesitation in walking the course's immaculate and tree-lined fairways. The not overly complicated front-nine allows you to iron out any wrinkles in your game, although you'll need to keep the ball reasonably straight to stay out of the ever-present tree-line, which attractively borders each hole. The back-nine gets progressively more interesting, with greater undulations in the terrain and holes that seem to get tougher as you enter the final stretch.

As you might expect of this once exclusive and private Country Club (which now admits a certain amount of outside play), the quality of the greens and bunkering lives up to the overall excellent standard of the rest of the course. With pristine woodland all around the course, one is struck by the variety of the sometimes noisy and boisterous birdlife here, which helps throw a colourful and pleasantly tropical air to proceedings on the course.

Monash is a private club, which permits a limited amount of unaccompanied visitor play on Mon, Tues and Thur. Unaccompanied visitors must hold a current membership of an Australian or overseas golf club.

Must book in advance. Handicap required.

Monash CC has hosted several top level tournaments, including the Australian PGA Championship (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Monash). | The Club is named after General Sir John Monash (1865-1931), one of Australia's greatest soldiers. John Monash, originally a civil engineer, became the Australian military commander in the First World War. He commanded the 4th Brigade in Egypt shortly after the outbreak of the War, leading them in the Gallipoli campaign. In 1918 the successful allied attack on Amiens led to the earlier than expected end to WW1. The attack was planned by Monash and spearheaded by the Australian and Canadian Corps. | Just visible from Monash CC is the top of the nearby Baha'i House of Worship, also known as the Baha'i Temple, which is open to the public each day (see www.bahai.org.au ).

Ryder Cup: Rome plays host to the first ever Ryder Cup to be staged in Italy, with the USA defending golf’s greatest team trophy at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club (Sept 29-Oct 1).

Solheim Cup: also in September, also in southern Europe, the 18th Solheim Cup will be contested at Finca Cortesin on the Costa del Sol, with Europe defending after their surprise win in Toledo, Inverness Club (Ohio) in 2021 (Sept 22-24).

Who's Who

Céline Boutier: with many successes as both an amateur and professional golfer, Boutier added a major championship title to her impressive résumé at this year’s Evian Championship.
