RACV Royal Pines Resort

4-star: generally an excellent standard golf course, well worth visiting.

Where2Golf says:

RACV Royal Pines Resort is home to a well-rated and always popular 27-hole golf course, which sits at the heart of Queensland's Gold Coast. The course has recently benefitted from a substantial redesign by Graham Marsh, and now presents a tougher test than in days of old. There are many attractive holes to challenge your game on the Green and Gold "Championship" nines (to the east of the clubhouse) as well as on the Blue-nine (to the west).

Set against a lush tropical background and wrapped around the towering resort hotel, this tree-lined and open parkland layout should not disappoint. Previously a "bomber's paradise" from the tee, the 2015 renovation has significantly toughened-up the course, with the enlarging of some of the strategic water hazards and addition of plenty of stylish high-lipped bunkering.

In and around the often elevated greens is where your game will be most thoroughly tested. These large undulating putting surfaces are now defended by deep expansive bunkers, and mounds and hollows galore. Slick runoff areas are also present around the greens; some will unceremoniously carry your ball straight into the awaiting water hazards.

Following the revamp, this well-maintained layout is again a fitting and challenging centrepiece to this RACV Stay & Play facility.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted.
