Terrey Hills Golf & Country Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1994

Terrey Hills Golf & Country Club is home to as fine and natural a golf course as you'll find anywhere in the greater Sydney area. Beautifully laid out on the edge of the Ku-ring-gai Chase national park, here you can quietly play your way round an immaculately maintained layout, without distraction from roads or housing.

Good-width, rolling fairways weave their way through tree-lined avenues of towering eucalyptus in a lush, forested environment. Attractive mounding and plenty of stylish bunkering define the holes, as they make their way towards well defended, mounded greens.

The two nine-hole loops run out-and-back from the large and comfortable clubhouse, with both nines pushing hard alongside the national park. Small lakes and ponds are liberally deployed, threatening your approach to half the greens, while one or two of the nicely doglegging fairways are also water protected. Pleasant, though never excessive elevation changes gives character to the holes, with a more tree-lined front-nine giving way to a slightly more open back-nine.

Opportunities to score well and challenges to your card are evenly spread throughout this collection of excellently crafted and wonderfully varied golf holes.

Arguably the toughest stretch to negotiate comes at the closing trio on the front-nine and opening trio of the back. Here water plays a significant role and some of the tee shots may feel tighter than most. The doglegging par-4 18th brings you gently up to a green directly in front of the attractive, red-roofed clubhouse, a building distinguished by its imposing watchtower.
