Victor Harbor Golf Club: The most exciting, scenic and memorable shot you'll play at Victor Harbor is your first. Perched high above the rest of the course, the layout's first-tee is located alongside the also elevated clubhouse. Stretching out before you is a fabulous panorama, prominently featuring the Southern Ocean and the area's distinctive hills and coastal rock formations.
The good-length, rifle-straight par-4 opener, plunges away down the hill, connecting you to the remainder of the course, which is a relatively flat, nicely tree-lined, parkland layout. Amix of tall eucalyptus, mature pines and many other native tree varieties line the usually good-width, sometimes tightish fairways.
The small Inman River loops around the northern section of the course, but don't expect much here in the way of water hazards, except for two or three small ponds that come into play on a couple of holes.
Large, dish-shaped greenside bunkering threatens at several holes, although not all. Except for a small climb at the end of the front-nine loop, and a ski-tow that gets you back to the clubhouse from the 18th green, significant elevation change is confined to the spectacular opening hole.
Good maintenance and presentation standards are generally the case on this pleasant, tree-lined, parkland course. There is no housing on or around the perimeter, just a wonderfully natural environment of native trees and bushland, a rich haven for all manner of birdlife.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
