23 km SE of Bangkok (Sukhumvit hotel area)
From the Sukhumvit area of downtown Bangkok, take the Bangna - Trad highway heading east, direction Bang Na / Chonburi. After passing the Eastern Outer Ring Road (route 9), turn left at the 10.5 km marker onto the 3256 direction Summit Windmill Golf. Follow signs for approx 3 km to golf clubhouse, which is in Windmill Park.
Summit Windmill Golf Club: With its relative close proximity to downtown Bangkok, Summit Windmill is always a popular course, as well as one that provides a good golfing challenge in very pleasant parkland surroundings.
Water is a relatively constant companion throughout the round, starting with a tee-to-green lake that flanks the leftside of the long par-5 1st hole. Exactly the same concept is repeated coming down the opposite bank of the lake at the 18th.
In between these opening and closing par-5's, Nick Faldo's often innovative design provides plenty of nicely contoured, good-width fairways to aim at, as well as a brace of excellent quality, water-protected par-3's. One of the best of these is the island green 12th.
A variety of palm trees give the holes excellent definition and the course a characteristically tropical feel. With little rough to worry about, you can concentrate on avoiding the water, getting your ball onto the nicely elevated greens and coping with their many subtle slopes and borrows.
Some sizeable villas occupy plots around parts of the course perimeter, but they are never close enough to be within range - no matter how wayward you might be. Although located within the city suburbs, there is a definite oasis quality about Summit Windmill. A great place to escape to and enjoy the pleasures of tropical, parkland golf - and a well presented Faldo layout.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends. Night golf open until 10pm.
Must book in advance.
Non-metal spike facility. Golf carts available for hire. Caddies used by all players.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
