Mission Hills Golf Club Shenzhen (Pete Dye course)

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 2007

The Pete Dye course at Mission Hills Golf Club, Shenzhen is a championship layout that ranks with some of the best in the province of Guangdong (formerly known as Canton). This tree-lined parkland course also weighs-in as Dye's first design in China. At just over 6,800 yards the course may be a little short by today's leviathan standards, but the layout will thoroughly test and probe your creative shot-making.

This easy-walking course contains most elements associated with a Pete Dye design: small pot bunkers, long tee to green waste areas, railroad sleepers and tall native grasses that provide sharp, visual contrasts. The greens are wildly undulating, especially on the numerous short par-4 holes.

As is generally the case, this Pete Dye layout provides a wonderful test for your all-round game, with many attractive, skilfully crafted and challenging holes to enjoy. However, this course and the par-54 Zhang course at Mission Hills Shenzhen are generally reserved for member-only play.

Co-located with the Pete Dye course at the Mid-Valley clubhouse is another of the top-rated Mission Hills Shenzhen layouts - the Faldo course. 10 km to the southeast of the clubhouse is the Mission Hills Shenzhen resort centre with five more championship courses (World Cup, Vijay, Els, Ozaki and Zhang), while 5 km to the northwest is the Mission Hills Dongguan resort and its five championship layouts (Olazabal, Annika, Rose-Poulter, Norman and Leadbetter).

Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.
