Bude & North Cornwall
Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club is located close to the centre of town, on links that have been home to golf for over 130 years. Although set back from the sea, and with only occasional sea views, there's no doubting the links credentials of this enjoyable and at times rather quirky layout.
The natural all-weather fairways and greens are laid out on rambunctiously undulating terrain. On a first visit, you'll need to be guided by, and trust, several number boards. These point you in the right general direction for the many blind tee and approach shots the layout demands. You'll have a better idea of where to hit to on second and subsequent visits.
Tight lies, uneven stances and, on the back nine, a deep meandering water ditch all play their part. The ditch will need to be crossed in front of the par-3 10th and par-4 15th and 17th greens.
The fast-paced greens, imbued with a mix of severe and subtle slopes, will provide a thorough examination of your skills with the "short stick". The more you play Bude & North Cornwall, which feels like it never really leaves town, the more it grows on you. But you'll need to embrace its quirkiness and rolling undulations, and abundance of blind shots.
Pick of the holes: the short par-5 9th epitomises the challenges of Bude. After a blind drive over a marker post, the ever-narrowing fairway wriggles through a tree-lined gap in front of the lightly bunker-defended green. A hole where you'll need to respect your limitations, play it safe, and quietly walk away with par!

Limited
Founded as North Cornwall Golf Club in 1891, the club was originally intended for the exclusive use of the officer class incomers and local gentry, with the exclusion of the local townsfolk.
The growing demand for locals to play the game resulted in the formation of an artisan section in 1919 called Bude Town Golf Club. These artisan members carried out work on the course and were not admitted to the clubhouse and had restricted playing rights. From 1949, North Cornwall Golf Club and Bude Town Golf Club merged to found the present club.
