Designer:
Original nine-hole course designed by Alf Padgham (1935); extended to 18-holes by Arthur Wrigglesworth (1938) and Horace Lewis (1940s). A third nine was added by Frank Pennink (1973) and a fourth by Ron Hinton (1983).
All 36 holes were subsequently re-organised into two 18-hole layouts, the Highgate and Lodge courses. Each course contains holes designed by Messrs Padgham, Wrigglesworth, Lewis, Pennink and Hinton.
Above distances are for the Lodge course. Also at Enville GC is the 18-hole Highgate course (par-72; 6,703 yds from back tees, course rating 73.7).

Enville (Lodge)
Enville Golf Club (Lodge course): Enville is home to two top-quality 18-hole heathland courses, the Highgate and Lodge. Both these excellently presented layouts take you on an enjoyable journey across pleasantly rolling heathland terrain. Both play out from the same red-brick clubhouse, and both are a delight to play.
The two nine-hole loops of the Highgate course play mainly to the north of the property. The out-and-back Lodge course sits below it to the south.
For its first 12 holes, the Lodge course weaves through elegant tree-lined avenues of silver birch and Scots pine. Heather and occasionally gorse bushes lie beyond the good-width fairways, which can feel a tad tight from time-to-time ... there's generally more space than you at first think.
From the rifle-straight par-4 13th through to the stylishly bunkered par-4 16th, the layout moves into a flatter more open heathland setting. Prior to that the rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation change to this well-crafted layout. Relatively deep red sand bunkers often lurk menacingly close to the excellent, subtly-sloping and variable-sized greens
Pick of the holes: a lovely back-to-back pair of good-length par-4s are found at 11 and 12. The first demands a tight downhill approach into the green, while the 12th tee plays down to a gently left-to-right doglegging fairway.
Visitors welcome on weekdays, and Sundays (after 2pm).

The Enville golf courses are laid out in the grounds of Enville Hall, an impressive stately manor house, located 2.5 miles southwest of the golf. Dating back to the 15th century, and still a private residence, Enville Hall and its large estate were originally acquired by Henry Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Groby, later made the Earl of Stamford. The Grey family retained ownership of the Hall until 1999.

England's 107th best course (Golf World, 2025).
Lodge course:
England's 115th best course.
Women’s (British) Open: the last women’s major championship of the season is hosted by Royal Porthcawl GC. It’s the first time this fabulous seaside links course has hosted the event (July 31-Aug 3).
Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7).
After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
