Gog Magog
The Gog Magog Golf Club: You will not find the giants Gog and Magog roaming these hills any longer, as legend says they once did. What you will find is a friendly and welcoming golf club, two picturesque and challenging courses, and the home of Cambridge University undergraduate golf.
The Old course (1901) is the much older and more charming of the two. The Wandlebury (1997) is longer and considerably more open than its older sibling. On the Old course the first two holes take you up onto a plateau, which gives spectacular views over Cambridge and the surrounding hills. The 16th, 17th and 18th bring you back down again in equally spectacular fashion.
Visitors welcome on weekdays (except Weds) and after 10am on Sundays.
Must book in advance. Handicap required.

Good
The Club takes its name from the Gog Magog Hills, a range of low chalk hills located close to the golf course, just southeast of the famed university city of Cambridge. Some say that Gog Magog was the name of a legendary giant whose lair was in Wandlebury Ring, close to the course. The name is not however specific to the area; it occurs in the Bible where it is variously applied to individuals, tribes and lands.
In 1896 Gonville & Caius College first purchased the land adjacent to the Gog Magog Hills for use as a golf course, “primarily for the use of senior members of the University”. The land the course is designated a UK Site of Special Scientific Interest, which imposes strict environmental protection measures on the area.
