On the west side of Kingston Bridge turn left onto the A308 Hampton Court Road. After just 20 yards turn left into Home Park in front of the Old Kings Head pub. Follow signs to golf.
Hampton Court Palace Golf Club is set in the grounds of the famed former home of Henry VIII (and other English monarchs). The park itself, known as Home Park, is quite flat and sufficiently open to create a links-like feel to many holes. This is especially the case on the back-nine, where you might also find that tell-tale resident of many a true links, the airborne chirruping skylark.
The early holes are a little more tree-lined, as you play a loop that offers views of the Palace itself. The nearby River Thames stays largely out of view as you journey round this front-nine loop.
With arguably a stronger back-nine, the layout offers a good test of golf within this pleasant and quiet royal deer park. Traversing the always good-width fairways (some generously wide), don't be surprised to see small herds of fallow deer slowly moving from one grazing spot to another.
Pick of the holes: an excellent closing trio of holes includes the sweeping and handsomely bunkered par-4 16th, the also strongly bunkered-defended par-3 17th, and the long straightaway par-4 18th.
Visitors welcome on weekdays, and after 1:30pm on weekends.

Hampton Court Palace Golf Club is laid out in a section of Home Park, the large deerpark that's attached to the palace. Originally built in Tudor-style, in the early-1500s, the palace became a favoured residence of Henry VIII.
In the late 1600s, William III (widely known as William of Orange) added a large extension to the palace, although in a very different "baroque" style. This created the two very contrasting architectural styles of the palace, which nowadays is an immensely popular west London attraction.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
