Where2Golf says:

Littlestone Golf Club: When it comes to links golf on the Kent coast, a certain trio of courses to the north (Royal St George's, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince's) tend to steal the headlines. But here at Littlestone you'll find one of England's lesser known seaside gems, and one that remains a strong favourite amongst links golf devotees.

Littlestone's out-and-back layout provides a thoroughly absorbing test of links golf. The easy-going short flat opening par-4 belies many better holes to follow. Things immediately pick-up at the par-4 2nd, where a blind approach shot needs to wriggle onto the green between two sand dunes. A blind tee shot comes next at the par-4 3rd; anything hit directly over the marker post will serve you well.

With many excellent links holes to savour, the layout builds to its grand finale, with the best stretch saved 'til last. Here at the closing trio you are finally treated to sea views, as well as the opportunity to add some big numbers to your scorecard (if that hasn't happened already). The tough par-4 16th gently climbs towards Littlestone's water tower; the good length par-3 17th is one of the best in the south of England, and the short par-5 18th calls for an accurate drive rather than an errant tee-shot into the fairway lining rough.

For a straightforward and no-nonsense treat on one of England’s lesser known links courses, Littlestone is well worth a visit. Excellent greens, great bunkering, a high standard of upkeep and many memorable holes, particularly the closing trio, keep golfers coming back to this Kentish gem.

Did you know?

From the golf course you will just catch glimpses of, and certainly hear, the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway (RH&DR). Since 1927 this small scale working railway, with its fleet of one-third scale steam locomotives, has been an integral part of the landscape of the Romney Marsh. Nowadays it is one of the major tourist attractions in the area.
