Mannings Heath Golf Club (Waterfall course): Notwithstanding several changes made to the layout over the years, the Waterfall course at Mannings Heath Golf Club presents a wonderfully scenic and challenging test of golf. The course is a hybrid, a mix of heathland, downland and parkland and provides golfers with an exciting and entertaining course which holds the interest all the way round.
Following the hilly contours of the South Downs, the generally good-width fairways are laid out across a mix of wooded and more open terrain. Many streams add to the variety of golfing challenges that lie in wait. There are some fabulous holes to be played, not least the par-3 10th (known as Waterfall) and the par-4 11th (Valley).
Look out for the memorial plaque to a crashed WWII RAF bomber at the Waterfall's 14th hole. Also at Mannings Heath is the par-70 Kingfisher course, which opened in 1996. The Kingfisher is set in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and offers panoramic views over the tree tops and across the South Downs.
Private course - outside visitor play is restricted to guests staying at the South Lodge Hotel, who can book to play on weekdays and weekends. The Kingfisher course at Mannings Heath GC is open to outside visitors.
Must book in advance. Handicap required.
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.
