18 holes.
Designer:
OLD course: originally laid out in 1889 by Robert Black "Buff" Wilson of St Andrews, Minchinhampton's first professional. Since then the course routing has changed considerably.
AVENING course: largely designed by Fred Hawtree (1975), with some replacement holes added in 1995.
CHERINGTON course: largely designed by Hawtree's son Martin Hawtree (1995), with some holes absorbed from the Avening layout.
Above distances are for the Old Course. Located three miles to the southeast, and sharing the same clubhouse, are Minchinhampton's two "New" courses: the 18-hole Cherington course (par-71; 6459 yds from back tees) and the 18-hole Avening course (par-70; 6320 yds).

Minchinhampton (Old)
Minchinhampton Golf Club (Old course): Golf architecture aficionados rave about the authenticity and antiquity of the Old course at Minchinhampton ... "Minch Old". It certainly conjures up the earliest antecedents of the game.
Sat atop Culver Hill, this treeless, bunkerless and waterless open "moorland" layout is criss-crossed by various local roads, with cows mooching about to left and right. At times your approach shots may stray perilously close to the roads, but among the array of awaiting green-sites are some wonderful examples of raised and sunken ("punchbowl") greens.
For those who prefer to take their golf with a bit more refinement and some modern trimmings, fear not. Just 3 miles to the south-east is Minchinhampton's more salubrious club house, and alongside it the Fred Hawtree designed 18-hole Avening course (1975), and Martin Hawtree designed 18-hole Cherington course (1995).
And if you find "rustic" golf in "Laurie Lee country" is to your liking, don't overlook the also much-loved Painswick golf course ... even closer to the famous writer's home village of Slad.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance.
