Where2Golf says:

North Foreland Golf Club is quite different from the illustrious trio of courses located a little further south on the Kent coast. Whereas Royal St George's (Sandwich), Royal Cinque Ports (Deal) and Prince's are classic duneland links, North Foreland is much more an open clifftop course. Although sand dunes are not much in evidence, the chalky soil provides excellent fast draining terrain, over which the two nine-hole loops meander. On this gently undulating and scenic layout, there are many sea views to enjoy.

The open and expansive front-nine, played under the watchful gaze of a solid-looking lighthouse, is contrasted by a slightly tighter and arguably more interesting back-nine. Nicely undulating greens and well-placed bunkering all contribute to this very pleasant coastal golfing venue. At several points on the back-nine the clifftop scenery includes the impressive looking Kingsgate Castle (no longer a baronial family seat, but 31 residential flats).

Did you know?

Golf has been played at North Foreland since 1903, starting as a 9-hole course and known as Kingsgate Golf Club. In 1909 Lord Northcliffe became the owner and by 1920 the 18-hole championship course and the adjoining short course had been opened; at this time the name was changed to North Foreland Golf Club. The course has been used as a final qualifying course for the Open Championship when it is held at Royal St George's.
