Sean PowerThe Course:
36 holes. Tree-lined and open heathland. Gently undulating terrain - a few slopes to climb.
Surroundings:
Woodland, heathland and open rural countryside.
Designer:
Original nine-hole course designed by Alf Padgham (1935); extended to 18-holes by Arthur Wrigglesworth (1938) and Horace Lewis (1940s). A third nine was added br Frank Pennink (1973) and a fourth by Ron Hinton (1983).
All 36 holes were subsequently re-organised into two 18-hole layouts, the Highgate and Lodge courses. Each course contains holes designed by Messrs Padgham, Wrigglesworth, Lewis, Pennink and Hinton.
Above distances are for the Highgate course. Also at Enville GC is the 18-hole par-71 Lodge course (6,472 from back tees, course rating 71.0).

Enville
Enville Golf Club is home to two top-quality 18-hole wooded heathland layouts, the Highgate and Lodge courses. Both take you on a routing through mature woodland, with tree-lined fairways, often quite tight, to be navigated along the way. Both courses share the same red-brick clubhouse.
The two nine-hole loops of the Highgate course play mainly to the north of the property, with the out-and-back Lodge course below it to the south. If trees are not present, then open tracts of heather will likely be in evidence flanking the fairways on both courses.
Visitors welcome on weekdays, and Sundays (after 2pm).
Must book in advance.
Contact club for full details, discounts, packages, day tickets, etc. [Last updated: 2025].
Players generally walk this course. Golf carts available for hire.
Excellent
The Enville golf courses are laid out in the grounds of Enville Hall, an impressive stately manor house, located 2.5 miles southwest of the golf. Dating back to the 15th century, and still a private residence, Enville Hall and its large estate were originally acquired by Henry Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Groby, later made the Earl of Stamford. The Grey family retained ownership of the Hall until 1999.

Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
