Whittington Heath Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1886

Whittington Heath Golf Club is home to a highly-rated and pleasantly testing golf course. A majority of the holes on this excellent heathland layout were crafted by legendary English designer Harry Colt. More recently Jonathan Gaunt added five new holes, replacing others that gave way to the HS2 railway project.

The combination of old and new ensures there's plenty of challenge for golfers of all abilities. Created and managed in harmony with the natural heath, the lightly tree-lined and stylishly bunkered holes offer great variety, on a course that's playable year round. Definitely one to include on your play list if you are in the area.

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.

Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
