Where2Golf says:
Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club: Located just to the south-west of Walt Disney World, Mystic Dunes is a wonderfully natural and excellently crafted golf course - laid out on relatively flat, open terrain, but also with some tighter holes lined by old oaks, laden with hanging Spanish moss - sometimes exudes a typical Florida wetland feel, but also several linksy dune-like stretches - limited housing around the course maintains the natural feel - an attractive fusion of swamp land and expansive sandy waste areas, palms and pampas, old oaks and a couple of small ponds (in play at the par-4 10th and testing, (almost) island green par-3 11th, which unexpectedly sports a tropical-style water feature on the pond's left side) - the flatness of some holes is contrasted by others that create a more rolling, gently undulating feel - often limited bunkering around the greens, which puts the accent on your pitching and chipping skills, versus short-range bunker-play - pick of the holes includes: the wonderful par-3 5th played across open swamp to a green framed by tall oaks; the very natural par-4 4th, which introduces four railway-sleepered, pot bunkers, designed to catch any drives hit right of the fairway as it gently doglegs from left-to-right toward the green - a predominantly natural and always interesting layout that's very different from Orlando's preponderance of country-club, resort-style courses.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted. Perhaps the inspiration for Koksijde's new course came from a renowned Harry Colt layout that existed in the 1920s just a couple of kilometres to the west. Read more... |
The Duke Golf Club: represents the latest in a trio of private courses to arrive on the Dutch golfing scene. All prefixed by the definite article, The Dutch (2010, designer Colin Montgomerie) and The International (2012, Ian Woosnam) have now been joined by The Duke, which firmly targets a business clientele and the corporate golf market. Drentse Golfclub De Gelpenberg: as the oldest golf course in the Dutch province of Drenthe, De Gelpenberg offers a partly-wooded and partly-open heathland layout, guaranteed to test all facets of your game. It is arguably the best of the country's more northerly layouts, together with Lauswolt (50 km away to the north-west). Read more... |
Golfbaan Stippelberg: located 25 kilometres north-east of Eindhoven, this relatively new addition to championship golf in the Netherlands has fast become one of the country's "must play" courses. |
