Bois d'Arlon (Park)
Bois d'Arlon Golf & Resort (Park course): the most exciting golfing development in Belgium for several years, has brought a luxury resort hotel and two superb new golf courses into the far southeast of the country. Close to the border with Luxembourg, the resort boasts an exciting 18-hole open-heathland course, and the nine-hole Park course (to be developed into a full 18-holes in the next couple of years).
Although only nine-holes at the moment, the Parkland course exudes clear differences from its more open and heathland influenced sibling. Also a big dimension modern layout, the Park will become an established championship test in its own right.
With its carpet-like fairways and excellent presentation throughout, the layout winds through tree-lined avenues, some with plenty of elevation change. The (current) par-3 2nd presents a classic "Redan" style hole, with stylish bunkering set to capture anything hit short and right.
Pick of the holes: the (current) uphill par-4 5th seems to have it all! A pond to cross from the tee, the fairway flanked and then crossed by a water ditch, then over a Swilken-style bridge, and onward to the plateau green, which sits in front of the sumptuous Bois d'Arlon mansion house.

Bois d'Arlon's golf courses are laid out in the natural setting of the Château du Bois d’Arlon, a true jewel in the Belgian Province of Luxembourg. The chateau and estate were acquired by Luxembourg billionaire Roby Schintgen, and subsequently developed into Belgium's No.1 golf resort. The Château itself dates from the late-1800s.

Sony Open in Hawaii: played at Waialae Country Club near Honolulu, the Sony Open takes over the spotlight from The Sentry as the PGA Tour’s calendar-year opening event (Jan 15-18). The Sentry (not being played in 2026) was formerly known as the Tournament of Champions, with a field typically restricted to golfers who won a PGA Tour event in the previous calendar year.
Dubai Desert Classic: the DP World Tour’s first Rolex Series event of 2026, is contested for the 37th time (Jan 22-25). First won by Englishman Mark James in 1989, it now boasts a four-time winner, Rory McIlroy. Played on the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis course, this once desert-surrounded course is the long-time flagship for Golf in Dubai.
Our visit last month included two rounds at Golf de Chantilly, one of France’s most prestigious clubs.
It offers two superb layouts: Le Vineuil, a five-star championship course with a rich history, and Longères, an excellent four-star course that provides a strong and enjoyable test.
The wider Paris region offers plenty more. Courses such as Fontainebleau, Golf de Saint-Germain, and several other top-rated layouts make this area one of Europe’s most rewarding golf destinations, offering a mix of woodland, heathland, and parkland designs.
The Dutch: "It's no' just a game", as they say in Scotland, and that's certainly true at The Dutch. With 5-star services throughout, a lavishly comfortable Loch Lomond-inspired clubhouse, and a superbly designed and presented golf course, one could not ask for more from this top-end private club.
