35 km N of centre of Paris.
Leave A16 at Jtn 11. If approaching from N. take direction Beaumont s/Oise at first roundabout to get back over motorway. If approaching from S. take direction "Golf" at first roundabout. After 1.3 km golf is on your R.
Golf de L'Isle Adam: From a very natural woodland setting you are twice confronted with a stiff climb onto a higher and more open plateau. The tight par-4 3rd starts the climb the first time, and the dramatic drop at the par-4 7th starts you down again. Then its back up at the 11th and down again after the 16th. All this may sound a bit up and down, but the course itself and the greenkeeping is of a consistently high standard.
As one of France’s lesser known gems, the mix of woodland and more open terrain works well. The greens here are nicely contoured without being rollercoasters, and the views over surrounding hills are very pleasing (although the EDF power plant reminds us the modern world is never far away).
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.
Must book in advance. Handicap required.

Walker Cup: the 50th playing of this prestigious men’s amateur event sees the GB&I go head-to-head against the defending USA team at Cypress Point Club, California (Sept 6-7). After that, all eyes turn to Bethpage State Park on Long Island, NY, where the American and defending European professional teams engage in the 45th Ryder Cup (Sept 27-29).
Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
Pádraig Harrington: the ever-likeable Irishman added the (British) Senior Open Championship title to his stellar array of tournament successes. His win came on Sunningdale’s spectacular Old Course. Harrington had already bagged the U.S. Senior Open title in June this year.
