Where2Golf says:

Golf de Wimereux is a true seaside links that sits on the edge of the English Channel (La Manche). The course offers plenty of coastal views and, if the wind is blowing, plenty of that as well. As you’d expect from a links layout, the environment here is very open, trees are in short supply and the long grassy rough can swallow-up any stray shots.

The opening few holes of Wimereux take you down and around a small hill. The par-4 4th, often played into the wind, brings you back up the hill, whereafter the layout settles onto gently undulating terrain. Wimereux's mainly parallel running holes are generally straightaway in character, with doglegging holes a distinct rarity. Straight hitting from the tee will serve you well, while neighbouring fairways may occasionally come to the assistance of seriously wayward tee-shots. Although Wimereux's dunes are modest rather than towering, there's an impressive area of sand hills just to the north of the course.

Wimereux may not be renowned as a "world-class" links layout, but it is immensely popular, particularly with visiting French, British and Belgian golfers. All the character of an authentic links golf course shines through in abundance, with many wonderful coastal views to be enjoyed into the bargain.

Did you know?

Wimereux Golf Club is located 2 km north of the pleasant coastal town of Wimereux. Once a holiday retreat for wealthy families from Lille and Paris, Wimereux has become popular with the British and Belgians who have bought vacation homes or settled permanently. The river "Le Wimereux" flows through the good-sized and old village of Wimille just before the river enters Wimereux itself, where it flows out into "La Manche" (English Channel).

Wimereux GC's website contains a wonderful history of the club (in French) and many superb pictures dating back to its earliest days.
