Grand Saint-Emilionnais
Grand Saint-Emilionnais Golf Club: Set on gently rolling terrain in the Bordeaux wine growing region of Saint-Émilion, this new Tom Doak design promises to become one of France's top golf experiences. Following the natural contours of the gently undulating terrain, the well-crafted course is set in a valley framed by oak trees and vineyards.
From the elevated clubhouse, you gain a panoramic view across the course. Historic buildings, rolling fairways, views of Gardegan village and the surrounding vineyards all create a rich rural scene. The mix of open linksy holes combine with others in a more tree-lined setting to lay down an excellent test of your golfing skills.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends. Closed on Tuesdays.
Must book in advance. Maximum permitted handicap: 36 (men & women).

Good
The historic town of Saint-Émilion, centre of the wine district of that name, is located just a few kilometres to the west of the golf course. Saint-Émilion's history goes back to ancient times and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the town you'll find fascinating Romanesque churches and many centuries-old buildings stretching along steep and narrow streets.

Lottie Woad: 21-year-old Woad burst onto the professional scene in July, with wins in the Women’s Irish Open (as an amateur) and three weeks later in the Women’s Scottish Open (as a professional). She nearly picked-up a major championship, placing third in The Evian in the same month.
