Leave the A10 at exit 15 (Meung s/Loire). Follow signs to Beaugency. After 10 km, in Beaugency, follow signs to Chateauroux / Limoges and cross the bridge over the River Loire at L'Abbaye Hotel. Immediately after bridge, turn right onto the D925 direction Chateauroux / Limoges. After 5 km Les Bordes is signposted on your left (and is a further 2 km along a private road).
Les Bordes Golf Club (Old course): The friendship between Baron Bich (founder of Bic pens) and Yoshiaki Sakurai of Japan, provided the vision for a top-quality Stay&Play golf facility within easy reach of Paris. The resulting Robert von Hagge designed golf course at Les Bordes quickly became one of the jewels in France's golfing crown. Alas the club later closed its doors to outside visitors, and is operated exclusively as a members-only facility.
The course at Les Bordes lies in a natural and serenely peaceful area of woodland near Orleans in the Loire Valley. Though the terrain is relatively flat (making the appearance of so many buggies rather curious), von Hagge has conjured up variety at every turn. With its mix of woodland and more open aspects, tight lines from the tee and abundance of water, this is certainly a course that lays down a tough golfing challenge.
If you like a significant golfing challenge (designer von Hagge wouldn't have it any other way) and want to share a few hours with the resident wildlife (including deer, koypu, water fowl, eagles, etc) there are few better places in France than Les Bordes.
Pick of the holes: Both defended by water, the par-5 7th and par-5 14th are amongst Les Borde's most memorable. The 10th, without water, is also an excellent par-5, played to an elevated green.
Limited access: this is a private course generally playable only by members and their invited guests.
Private club - guests may only play if hosted by a member.
Players generally walk this course.

The Old Course at Les Bordes is often described as the masterpiece of American course designer Robert von Hagge. A former "Marlboro man", von Hagge has also designed several other well-known golf courses in Europe, including: the Albatros at Golf National and both the Courson courses in Paris, as well as Kempferhof, Royal Mougins, Seignosse, Emporda, Royal Sociedad Hipica Espanola (RSHE), Is Arenas, El Encin and Bogono. In the USA his many designs include the original "Blue Monster" course at Doral.
Future developments at Les Bordes envisage a Six Senses Hotel & Spa. It is anticipated that resort guests will have limited access to the 10-hole Wild Piglet course, but not necessarily to the two 18-hole Old and New courses.
Old course:
France's 2nd best course (Golf World, 2022).
Continental Europe's 15th best course (Golf World, 2023).
There are plans for a Six Senses luxury hotel to open at Les Bordes.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
